Explore how modern Hebrew poetry engages with biblical narrative. The session will pair a biblical story with a Hebrew poem (in English translation) that echoes, reinterprets, or wrestles with it. We'll start with a brief literary look at the story, then turn to the poem to explore its connection to the source text. Come curious about how our oldest stories keep finding new life. The class is taught by Hanna Seltzer, Beth Emet member and Northwestern University professor.
Beth Emet relies on budgeted funds and donations to support adult education. This year, instead of class fees, we aim to raise $4,000 to cover costs. Please consider an optional donation at registration to help sustain lifelong learning.
